to the First Church of God! Being affiliated with Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, we are an evangelistic Bible believing congregation.  We are working together  for the advancement of the Gospel. It will not take long for you to recognize our sincere friendliness and desire to help you and your family in your spiritual growth.

Goals

Our emphasis is a constant proclamation of God’s Word designed to exalt Christ and meet personal and spiritual needs. Our mission is to WIN the lost, DISCIPLE believers, STRENGTHEN the family, and SEND out workers.

By balancing EVANGELSIM (winning the lost), EDUCATION (building people up in the Word of God), ENCOURAGEMENT (helping Christians minister to others), and EXPOSITION (preaching the Bible clearly) the family of the First Church of God is strengthened to be responsive to God’s call for Christian service.

It is our purpose that all Bible classes, ministries, fellowship activities, and service opportunities be designed to develop faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

We Believe

The Bible to be the inspired Word of God; therefore, it is our final authority in  all matters of faith and conduct.

There is one God eternally existent in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His substitutional death for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and His second coming.

The blood of Jesus is the only cleansing for sin. Salvation is found only thru repentance from sin and faith in the Savior Jesus Christ and at which time salvation makes you a member of God’s church.

In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.

Christians are called to carry the message of the Gospel to their generation.

That Jesus is coming again to judge mankind.

In the resurrection of both the saved to everlasting life; and the lost to everlasting damnation.

Programs

Our Vacation Bible School is an annual project which provides an evangelistic outreach and a fun, educational  activity for all interested children. Classes are available from toddler to adult.

Special ministries include Women of the Church of God, EnTouch Choir, Voices Choir, God’s Anointed Choir, and Benevolence.

Bay Ridge Christian College and Anderson University offer a variety of subjects, and are excellent opportunities for those interested in Bible College or Seminary. It is designed to provide a solid Biblical education and training.

Annual holiday programs during Easter and Christmas offer a warn atmosphere for family worship.

At the First Church of God, we offer a Thursday night Bible Study, which includes elements of teaching, testimonies, prayer, and the singing of hymns.

Our church facility is located on 4 acres of land and provides for room to grow.

Our Pastor, along with Associate Ministers have the primary responsibilities of the spiritual oversight of this local body of believers. They seek to provide a well balanced ministry for all ages and establish policy guidelines in spiritual matters.

Deacons help to provide the best possible environment for an effective and efficient spiritual ministry.

Trustees have the primary responsibility of overseeing the physical matters such as building, grounds, equipment, and finances with the purpose of meeting the temporal needs of the people while supporting the Pastors.

There are many committees where lay people serve to give guidance and effectively use all their spiritual gifts and abilities in the local church.

Our church is a unique structure. There is nothing just like it in the world. It is indeed similar to other organizations in some respects, but it is very much unlike them in its essential characteristics. The church is a divine institution. It was conceived in the mind of God and came into existence through divine process. We are an autonomus, non-denominational New Testament church that welcomes to its fellowship people of all races, nationalities, economic and cultural levels. Everyone is welcome, everybody is God’s somebody, and no one is turned away.
